How Fuudster works alongside Just Eat
How UK restaurants and takeaways can keep useful Just Eat demand while building a separate branded direct-order channel for repeat customers.

The short answer
Short answer
A takeaway can keep its Just Eat listing and run Fuudster as a separate direct-ordering channel. A Just Eat order remains a Just Eat marketplace order under the restaurant’s agreement. A Fuudster order begins on the restaurant’s branded site and must use its own payment, customer-data and collection or delivery setup.
What the owner needs to know
- Treat Just Eat and Fuudster as separate customer journeys and contracts.
- Do not copy Just Eat customer contact data into Fuudster or your marketing list.
- Promote your direct route through channels you own or are permitted to use.
- Compare incremental profit and service quality before changing channel strategy.
What stays with Just Eat?
Orders placed through the Just Eat website or app are communicated to the restaurant under the Just Eat marketplace terms. Depending on the restaurant’s setup, delivery may be provided by the restaurant or by Just Eat. Restaurant self-delivery does not turn that order into a Fuudster order.
Just Eat and direct ordering are different routes
Keep the commercial and operational records separate even when both routes feed the same kitchen. That makes the cost comparison honest and prevents staff from using marketplace information for an unrelated purpose.
- Discovery: Just Eat can place the business in front of customers browsing the marketplace.
- Checkout: a Just Eat order is placed and paid under the marketplace journey; a Fuudster order starts on the restaurant’s own branded site.
- Customer record: use each channel’s data only within the applicable agreement, privacy notice and lawful purpose.
- Fulfilment: marketplace self-delivery, Just Eat-provided delivery and Just Eat Go are not interchangeable labels.
- Reporting: measure sales, fees, refunds, cancellations, preparation and support by originating channel.
What belongs to the Fuudster route?
The restaurant promotes its branded Fuudster address through its own website, counter, search presence, social profiles and other permitted customer touchpoints. The customer opens that site, sees the restaurant’s menu and chooses collection or an enabled delivery option.
- Keep menu prices, stock and opening hours accurate on each active channel.
- Make the direct value clear without attacking the marketplace or misleading customers.
- Use a recognisable domain and branding so customers know who is taking the order.
- Measure missed orders, preparation time, refunds and support as well as conversion.
What about Just Eat Go?
Just Eat Go is Just Eat’s separate white-label delivery product for orders placed and paid for on a partner’s own site. It is the relevant product to assess for Fuudster-originated delivery—not a restaurant’s self-delivery setting on the Just Eat marketplace. Fuudster must not advertise it as available until the commercial relationship, coverage, API setup and live operating flow are approved and tested.
Can I invite existing customers to order direct?
Yes, where you have a lawful, permitted way to reach them—but 'existing customer' is not automatic marketing permission. Use customer details collected through your own direct relationship and follow UK privacy and electronic-marketing rules. Marketplace customer data must remain within the boundaries of the marketplace agreement and applicable law.
A sensible first pilot
Keep the Just Eat listing unchanged, publish a small accurate Fuudster menu, begin with collection or a tightly defined delivery area, and tell customers about it only through owned or permitted channels. Review four weeks of orders using the full cost per successfully completed order.
A four-week Just Eat plus Fuudster plan
The goal is not to manufacture a channel war. It is to prove whether a dependable direct route improves repeat-order economics without damaging discovery or service.
- Before launch: export no marketplace customer data; instead baseline completed orders, actual charges, refunds and service failures.
- Week 1: launch collection to staff and a small direct audience; correct menu, modifier and preparation-time errors.
- Week 2: add the direct URL to the restaurant website, Google profile, counter and organic social pages.
- Week 3: add direct-order packaging and a simple reorder reminder only where the restaurant controls that fulfilment and the promotion is permitted.
- Week 4: compare repeat-order contribution, on-time fulfilment, refunds and customer-support load before expanding.
The numbers to review every Monday
Use a small channel dashboard: completed orders, new versus repeat demand, average order value, all channel charges, restaurant-funded discounts, refunds, failed fulfilments and support minutes. A cheaper order that repeatedly fails or distracts the kitchen is not a better order.
Turn reading into action
What to do on Monday morning.
- 01Keep the Just Eat listing live and write down what job it currently performs: discovery, order-taking, delivery or all three.
- 02Check your signed Just Eat terms before planning any direct-channel promotion around marketplace orders.
- 03Create a clean direct-order baseline using only customers and touchpoints the restaurant can lawfully use.
- 04Launch collection with a small accurate menu before adding a courier dependency.
- 05Review both channels using contribution per completed order and service quality after four weeks.
Owner questions
Quick answers.
Can Just Eat and a direct ordering website work together?
Yes. Keep Just Eat for worthwhile marketplace demand and run the direct website as a separate route for customers reached through owned or permitted channels. Measure each journey separately.
Does Fuudster import Just Eat customers?
No. Fuudster should not copy or repurpose marketplace customer data.
Is restaurant self-delivery on Just Eat the same as direct ordering?
No. The order still originates in the Just Eat marketplace even when the restaurant provides the driver.
Can prices differ by channel?
Commercial and platform terms vary. Check your signed agreement and ensure every displayed price and fee is clear and lawful before publishing.
